Ok, but not spectacular
Gorges of Diosso的点评
点评：I asked my hotel about getting to the gorge. They recommended against getting a random taxi, but negotiate the trip beforehand with their dedicated driver. We agreed on 25,000 CFA for the return trip, including a visit to Musée de Loango close to the gorge.
It took about 40 minutes to get to Diosso. There a guide joined us and showed the way to the entrance. He didn't speak a single word of English. He wrote the price (12,000 CFA) in the sand. I didn't have to pay separately for the entrance.
We first entered at a viewpoint of the gorge, then walked to another viewpoint where the path down started. It took about 10 minutes to climb down on the path which was far from comfortable. It had steep and narrow natural steps, fine sand rhat got into my shoes and a lot of flies. The path was partly covered in vegetation which was wet from the morning rain, so my shoes and pants got also wet, making the fine sand stick on them. After getting down there was a view to the walls of the gorge, not much different to the view from above.
A 45-minute walk down in the gorge followed. It was nothing to write home about: first we went in the forest (which covered the views to the walls of the gorge), and later continued on a road in the middle of fields. We ended up on a road on the opposite side of the gorge. My driver had driven there to meet us.
I wouldn't rate the gorge as a must-see, but as there's not much else to see around Pointe Noire, this is one of the best sights in the area, especially when combined with Musée de Loango.
If you want to climb down, you'll need a guide, as nothing is signposted and without knowing the way you will get lost in the forest.
