点评:Holy Hominids! Olduvai Gorge is important and worth a visit. If you are going on safari in Tanzania, make sure this is in on your itinerary, and make sure you have pre-arranged for a guide who can give you an explanation of the Olduvai Gorge's history, importance, and current research use. We enjoyed the drive there, passing by Masai people and their herds of donkeys and goats, but be forewarned that the Masai do not want their photos taken unless you pay. They will throw rocks at your vehicle if they see you taking photos as you go by.
We ate our boxed lunch there at a small, covered, clean picnic area before our tour. The bathroom facilities are modern and clean.
We sat on stone steps in a covered amphitheater as our guide explained about the Gorge for about 35 minutes, then opened it up for questions. Afterwards, anyone who wanted to, could take photos standing at the railing with the Gorge in the background. If you are traveling with sixth grade kids, chances are they learned about early humans in social studies class, so this would be a peak experience for them. I am very glad we went.
