点评：Sigiriya Rock also known as Ravan’s Golden Palace is a magnificent ancient rock fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Matale District of Sri Lanka’s Central Province.
Entry Fee for SAARC Countries is 20 USD. You need a mandatory physical passport to avail this discount. Otherwise the regular price is 35 USD. To reach the top, 1200 stairs need to be climbed. So it’s not recommended for elderly tourists. Views from top are pretty good. Best to visit during sunsets. We did a day tour from Kandy to Sigriya and the taxi cost us roughly 22000 LKR and we covered a few other places also on the way.
Rising dramatically 180 metres (nearly 600 feet) above the surrounding jungle plains, this massive granite column was selected by King Kashyapa (477–495 CE) to serve as his capital and fortified pleasure citadel after he usurped the throne. Today, it stands as an engineering marvel, blending striking natural geology with advanced urban planning and hydraulic systems.
