点评:This is a must do activity when visiting Hotham or Dinner Plain, especially if you love and appreciate dogs.
What makes it even more special, is that every dog is a rescue. Even when the dogs retire, they live out their days at the farm with about 70 huskies in total calling it home.
My son (5 years old) and I went for a ride on the dog sled and it was so much fun. We enjoyed the ride, watching the power and intelligence of the dogs navigating their way through the trees, following the direction of the handler.
We especially enjoyed learning about the dogs, getting to know them individually and seeing their excitement when it was time to go for a ride. They couldn’t wait to run, and even when we stopped during the ride for them to rest, some of them just wanted to keep going, pulling the ropes and barking with excitement to get going again.
At the end of the ride, we could pet each dog, which they thoroughly enjoyed, and so did we! They were gentle with my son while allowing us to respectfully pat them. I got many dog kisses!
So glad we did this and also for supporting this amazing cause of rescuing huskies, where many are sadly bought by people who cannot cater to their needs, and give them up with behavioral issues that leave them know where to go if it wasn’t for Howling Huskies.
