点评:The first impression is highly negative. One enters through a dark and dank vaulted passage between decaying walls and emerges into an open space surrounded by building in various stages of neglect. Inside you have the Darbar Hall, Saraswati Mahal Library, and the Art Gallery. The Darbar Hall is a complete waste - the building looks ready to fall down, the exhibits are few, unimpressive, and poorly displayed. The Saraswati Mahal Library has an eclectic collection of manuscripts and early printed books. Some items are interesting, but the display is poor with no particular order and little information.
I nearly turned back after the library but took a chance to go a little ahead and see if there was something else. I am happy that I did, because the Art Gallery is worth a visit. The building is well-preserved and houses an impressive collection of stone and bronze figures. The bronzes, in particular, are excellent. One room is dedicated to several representations of the Nataraja and is the best of all.
Component-wise rating: Darbar Hall 0/5, Saraswati Mahal Library 3/5, Art Gallery stone figures 3/5, bronzes 5/5.
