点评:My husband and I dropped in to this little museum and left learning quite a bit about the history behind the area and the selfless actions of many brave men rescuing sailors from the sea. For context, my husband was a local at one time. He adores history in general and he still walked away with some new information!
The admission was very fair for the experience, a modest eight dollars per person - and we received a wonderful tour from a friendly gentleman named Aidan! He’s passionate about history and it was a very pleasant experience for all three of us.
For my husband and I, who enjoy learning just about anything, this was a small - but charming and lovely museum focusing on history that I personally feel is often overlooked. The story of Joshua James touched my heart - someone who took such a deep loss at a young age and then made it his mission to save lives? This is a piece of American history, niche as it may be, that’s worth taking at least a small stop in to check out and pay respect to. It was also amazing to be able to get an up close view of a lighthouse light and actually get an idea what the lenses look like.
There’s also a cute array of toys and nautical styled play areas for children that could be very educational - and the cupola for those able to brave it will have a very nice view of the two beacons in the area - Boston and Graves lighthouses - when the visibility is clear enough!
Gift shop was very sweet - for children and adults they’re stocked up well on books, ornaments, glassware, blankets and the like. My husband bought me a comfort bird and himself a spyglass! Prices are reasonable if you’re someone who wants to help support small museums that require donations to survive - especially in Mass. I’d highly recommend helping them out, small outfits like these help to keep some of our quieter chapters in American history alive.
