点评:Odd because it seems a little run down, including a bit the BBC managed to set on fire in the 1990s. But it should have a fantastic story to tell. It’s owned by the Freemasons, and they are missing money or inspiration to make this place fabulous. The guided notes were thoughtful but not particularly engaging. Only one volunteer seemed to relish speaking to people about the grim stories (popular with everyone!).
We went on a national Heritage day and the number of people wanting to see it was impressive, including the walled garden over the road.
A free nosy around seems to be a great attraction.
Surprised it got a ticket to open to the public to be honest as some aspects were in complete dark, or slippery, or full of trip hazards and dumped items. Seen better days, probably in 1896.
