点评:The Lungomare has the potential to be one of the best public spaces in all of southern Italy. It is very popular as a seaside park and pedestrian way along the main city of Salerno. For this it is very nice. There are a few cafes and bars near the cruise ship port. There are boat and watercraft rentals available.
The seaside development project was expanded south down the coast for miles. This included a lot of artificial reef structures just offshore to break the surf. Ideally this was to have an improved beach experience. The pedestrian walkway includes public access to the sea, parks, sport facilities and many full service beach clubs.
Unfortunately, a decision was made to "improve" the beach and a combination of crushed gravel as, sand, and low grade concrete was used to augment the natural sand. This makes for a pretty uncomfortable beach for walking.
A major storm last year (2025) flooded much of the city and washed large amounts of trash ( and rats) out of the sewers and creeks along the coast and into the sea. The storms also damaged and/or destroyed parts of the seawall, some parks, and some of the beach clubs along the way.
Much of it is now off limits and under reconstruction and is generally looking very shabby. In May, there was virtually nothing open along the beach area. I hope the area can be cleaned up and brought back to a better state soon.
