点评:We had a fantastic outdoors experience on a falconry walk at the Herstmonceux Castle Estate, a campus of Bader College of Queen’s University. Our guide, Adam, introduced us to Cedar, a Harris Hawk. Cedar proceeded to fly from tree to tree during our walk through an old growth forest, swooping in to grab snacks of quail meat from our gloved hands. He was gorgeous! Then we met Pipa, an Asian brown wood owl whose cries never ceased. I never thought an owl could be trained, but Pipa flew from tree to tree and swooped onto our fists for snacks, just like Cedar. But the ultimate highlight was Neo, a Lanner falcon. Released from Adam’s fist, Neo climbed to 650 ft(his tracker had a location and height sensor😳), a speck in the sky. He followed us about a quarter mile to an open field, where Adam swung a lure. We had the falcon swooping by us at incredible speed as he chased the lure. What a sight! We had a great outdoor lunch near a row of sweet chestnut trees that were over 400 years old. We’ll hope our travel home goes as well as our falconry walk😊
