点评:I wandered in on a whim and spend at least an hour in there. The entry was literally only a few pounds (a small price for knowledge!) and it was bigger on the inside than it looked on the outside. I was the only person there when I entered, but even when other people arrived, it remained nice and quiet inside (in a museum sort of a way). There was also some lovely folk music playing at various points over some information videos. I memorised one of the tunes and have been introducing various unsuspecting individuals to it through the medium of accordion.
The curators were friendly and helpful, and, after giving me an information booklet (which I was allowed to take home) showed me to a 15 minute local documentary, about the history of Porthmadog and its importance in the slate industry. I had a few hours until my train, and so I stayed.
Well, dear reader, I went in with only a mild interest in the slate industry, and yet spent the following day in Eryri chasing any slate-related history I could find (alas, the quarry museum was shut, but the quarry hospital museum was open), but this was certainly my favourite museum of the trip.
My biggest tip is to sit and watch the documentary. It is well put together and excellently educational. It has both Welsh and English. There is also a functional straight key (for Morse code) which I had some fun with.
I left the museum with a sudden newfound interest in the area around me.
I highly recommend this museum.
End of review.
