点评：We hired a car from Funchal and drove to Pico Do Arieiro car park. We set off at 6am and arrived at 7am ready for the sunrise at 7,45. The drive is ALL uphill , steep and windy roads. There were already lots of people there but we got a parking space easily (parking cost us 10 euros for 4 hours) From there it is a short steep walk to the peak to settle in ready for the dawn. It is cold and windy so take extra layers to keep warm. The sunrise is amazing and was one of the highlights of our trip to Madeira. You watch the sky change colour, sitting above the clouds feeling like you are on top of the world (6000 feet to be precise) From there we walked the PR1 trail , which is only partially open until April. The part that is open is breath taking, steep but safe with cable hand rails to help you keep steady. The stairway to heaven part is very steep. Wear suitable footwear with grip. The trail has a fee , currently 4.50 euro, that you pay on line. There was a man checking tickets at 9am but not at 8am when we set off.
There is a cafe which opens at 9am.
The only negative is that the toilets do not open until the cafe does. With so many people on the mountain from very early in the morning it would make sense to open them early. People were squatting behind walls to wee as there was no where else to go.

步道上有一家咖啡馆，9点开门。
唯一的缺点是厕所要等到咖啡馆开门才开放。考虑到清晨山上人很多，早点开放厕所是合理的。当时因为没有其他地方可去，人们只能蹲在墙后小便。
