点评：We went in hoping for a fun day out and came away with a story we’ll tell forever. Kyle scouted a spot the night before that turned out to be an absolute gem — no small feat on a packed sturgeon derby weekend when every good spot was in demand.
We landed 6 fish total. Early on we hooked an 8.5 ft sturgeon that fought hard before working its way behind a log and snapping our line — heartbreaking, but just a preview of what was coming. Then, 15 minutes before we had to head in, a huge sturgeon jumped clean out of the water right behind our boat, and my friend somehow hooked it on the side. What followed was a nearly hour-long battle to land a 9’3" sturgeon — turns out one of the biggest fish caught all weekend during the derby, and we weren’t even entered.
Beyond the fishing, Kyle was fantastic with my 4-year-old son all day — patient and genuinely great with kids. As two single moms bringing a little one along, that made all the difference. We’re already planning our next trip. If you’re on the fence about booking, don’t be.
