黑河谷国家公园的点评
点评：We did the Machabee viewpoint walk starting from the Petrin visitor centre. We had a hire car so parked up in the visitor centre car park (there is plenty of parking and toilets available). We spoke to the man at the entrance who pointed us towards the map. The various walks are very well signed so you really don’t need a guide! The signage shows the difficulty level, distance and time and they are all colour coded. We originally intended to do the machabee loop but we arrived a bit later than anticipated so opted for the shorter machabee viewpoint. The viewpoint consists of a kiosk overlooking the view where we sat for a snack and some water. We didn’t see many people on our walk, there were a few people at the viewpoint but it wasn’t busy at all. The walk itself was not particularly exciting (mostly flat dirt tracks) and the views were not great along the way. The end viewpoint was nice but you get arguably better views from the Gorge viewpoint which you can access by car. We later did the Le Morne Brabant hike and if you don’t have time to do them both, I would 100% recommend that hike over this - the views from Le Morne are spectacular!
After our walk we then drove to the Gorge viewpoint and the waterfall viewpoint which are both along the same road further down from the Petrin visitor centre. The Gorge viewpoint is definitely worth a visit!
