点评：My friend and I visited the Judges’ Lodgings on Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. As collectors of vintage and antique dolls’ houses, the Museum of Childhood on the top floor was our main reason for visiting, and we were delighted by the excellent collection of vintage and antique toys on display. Everything was beautifully presented behind glass, with informative interpretation throughout.
The staff could not have been more friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We happily spent a couple of wonderfully geeky hours exploring the displays and discussing our discoveries before having a tour of the impressive Gillow furniture collection in the beautiful first-floor rooms. Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about the collection.
A visit to the restored wash house and a few purchases from the gift shop rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Highly recommended, especially for anyone interested in social history, toys, or furniture.
