点评:On bit dusty morning I set off with a guide to go up Mount Longanot. You need great shoes/boots, lots of water and a great camera.
It's over 3km climb very steep and dusty in places with some steps to help out but not all the way up. When you get to the top of the climb I'd highly recommend walking around the crater, another 7.2km but the views are breathtaking.
I'm not a fitness freak but seriously consider your own fitness before doing the full up, around and descent. It's a full day's graft and not for the faint hearted. The path around the crater is narrow, slippery and also tough in places. Powdery volcanic dust makes it dirty slippery work, be careful and take your time. Being British I found the air very thin and difficult to catch my breath on exertion.
I ran out of water at the yop6 so by the time I got down I thought my tongue had been cut off. There's no drinks up there, you have to take your own.
Nice stalls at the bottom to mooch around and rest your legs. Some good local curio shops and food. Friendly people and another great day trip.
