One of our favourite temples, exceptional detail in the carvings.

点评：We were uncertain whether to include this temple on our journey from Aswan to Luxor but we are so glad we did. Located in the centre of Esna, the temple lies well below ground level and for many years it remained buried under rubble. Work continues on the site and only a relatively small part of the complex, the Roman Era Hypostyle Hall is available to visit. Access is down a long flight of stairs (although there is an elevator available).
As you approach the building, the first thing you see are six tall columns which lead into a beautiful Hypostyle Hall. It is not that large, but the quality of the carvings and paintings is exceptional, in particular the ceilings which have been recently restored with their original colour pallet and are among the best we have seen anywhere.
Not a large place compared to other temples in the area, but well worth a visit.
