Dendera Temple of Hathor的点评
点评：A WARNING to fellow tourists. Both Abydos and Dendera temples are well worth a visit. And very well preserved they are. Two hours for the first one and one hour and a half for the second should suffice. At Abydos don't forget Ramses 2’s Temple nearby, it's very good, too. Have some small change for the toilet. 1. These days you can buy entry tickets either online or on site but only with a card. NO cash. 2. The temples are 1h and a half one way from Luxor (Abydos) and just one hour drive for Dendera. We booked a car online and paid $150 for Abydos and about $70 for Dendera. Both ways. Here is a catch: though handsomely paid the driver drove only at 90 km/h or less while the limit on the motorway is 110. That cost us an hour lost to Abydos and back instead of a lovely afternoon by the pool. Why? To save a few E.Pounds on petrol of course, even though petrol is cheap in Egypt. Dendera the other day, with the same driver, was even worse. Not only did he drive slowly but also chose a motorway on the eastern side of the Nile instead. Half as long again. The reason being, having a good fortune of carrying such affluent (in Egyptian eyes) passengers as ourselves he was expected to share his good luck by paying a bakshish to the police at the road blocks which he didn't appreciate of course. In the end, faced with such meanness I told him to drive faster within the limit and take the short route back, which he did. Consequently we lost only half an hour. Needless to say, the little fart was tipped on both occasions as is the custom in Egypt. Trust the Egyptian to spoil a good impression.
