Bright, colourful, bus museum. Well worth the visit.
North West Museum of Road Transport的点评
点评:Welcoming museum. Easy to get to - under 10 minuteswalk from St.Central railway station, (with regular services to Liverpool and Wigan, (amongst others)). The museum was spacious, well-laid out, bright, clean and tidy.
Some 45 or so immaculately-presented preserved buses of the 20th and early 21st century are on display within the museum. This is naturally-lit and with suitable spacing of vehicles, photography of most is possible. Also, most are open to the public to climb aboard, sit on, and go upstairs where possible, including children. Descriptions/guide signposts are on display for each but knowledgeable staff are in attendance. An illustrated talk on the demise of Yelloway within the Yelloway coach was particularly enthusiastically delivered but with a sad heart.
A cafe, toilets, first aid and other facilities are provided during opening hours within the museum. Plus a free bus service around the town of St.Helens is available on the hour during hours of opening in a preserved vehicle.
For families; a safe clean, bright, indoor environment with colourful interesting exhibits to climb on and see how yesterday's buses were like. For the bus enthusiast, a well-presented amazing collection of buses from the North West with a few London, Sydney and Portsmouth interlopers in a safe environment for the vehicles to continue to be preserved long into the future. Well worth a visit for at least 1 1/2-2hours.
