点评:It's worth the effort to find this place. As others have mentioned, its a bit hidden and we walked past it a few times before finally figuring out how to access it. It's hidden in the corner of parking lot near some apartments/offices and a park. It feels a bit odd to say that the story of how this mosaic was found is really cool because it's also tragic. From my understanding, it was discovered when Pula was bombed during WWII and the house that was built on top of it collapsed. Of course losing your home in a war a tragedy, but could you imagine finding something this old and historic underneath the ruins of your house? That's the part that I would refer to as "cool".
It's thought that the mosaic covers the floor of what used to be a central living space in a Roman house from the 3rd century. The detail work on it is amazing and it's in incredible shape for being that old. When you realize how deep this is set into the ground, compared to the modern buildings that currently stand around it, it really makes me wonder what else is underneath the buildings of the city that hasn't been discovered yet. Clearly, modern Pula has been literally built on top of ancient Pula, so just imagine all the history that has been covered up.
I appreciate that the city has it covered and protected so that no one can walk on it, but this does lead to things like trash being able to fall onto it, but not able to be picked up. Hopefully, someone does maintain the place as there were a few pieces of trash on it when we saw it.
