点评：I had never visited Boschendal myself, but over the years I had come to know the name through the media, often associated with fine wine and warm hospitality. Sadly, that name now carries a very different meaning for me.
In November 2025, my son was struck by one of their drivers while crossing the road at a stop sign in Stellenbosch. Although he was fortunate to escape without lasting physical injuries, the incident was frightening and deeply unsettling for him — and for us as a family.
What made this experience even more distressing was the difficulty I encountered afterward. It took considerable effort to obtain basic information from Boschendal, such as the vehicle’s registration number and the driver’s details, which I needed to pursue a future claim. When I eventually received their internal incident report, it stated that the accident was my son’s fault. The report also failed to include the vehicle registration or certain critical particulars of the driver.
During a telephone conversation, I was told that someone would contact my son to apologize for the incident. That call never came.
I am immensely grateful that my son is physically well, but the emotional impact of that day should not be underestimated. I had expected an organization of Boschendal’s stature to respond with greater care, transparency and compassion. Instead, this experience has left us feeling unheard and deeply disappointed.
