点评:Elephant sanctuary anything but.
Thailand is a beautiful country, with amazing food, wonderful people, vibrant cities. While I was on a private tour I was taken to an elephant sanctuary where it was believed this was an actual “sanctuary” for rescued elephants. Unfortunately, this was anything but, the sign at the front made me believe it may have put the elephants first, unfortunately these beautiful, intelligent animals were living nothing but a money grab for rides and pure entertainment. No true sanctuary will use sharp bull hooks to keep them in lined for the nonstop continuous repetition in the heat carrying multiple people at a time. Please people, if you visit an animal sanctuary especially in Asia, visit the ones where they don’t exploit them for human rides. Half of these animals had chains on their feet, and every animal was being moved with bull hooks and kicks behind the ear to move them over and over and over again. My heart just broke for everyone of these broken souls. Do your research, unfortunately for me I had no say as this was our tour guides first time as well.
