点评:We spent a very enjoyable Saturday morning walking the Manzanares River starting at the Puenta del Rey after emerging from the nearby Principe Pio Metro station and followed its course past this bridge, then the Puente de Toledo before finishing at the Puente de Argonzuela. Whereas the others are footbridges the Puente de Segovia is a road bridge
And although it may lack the interest of the Puente de Toledo and the Puente de Argonzuela, its still worth stopping a while to walk across this one.
Firstly, it’s quite a historic bridge, being the oldest one still standing in Madrid with construction starting in 1574. Secondly, due to the developments of the river section as part of the Madrid Rio project it now sits in a pleasant area of fountains, ponds and walkways. And thirdly and most importantly for me, is that if you are walking the south bank of the river, this bridge has the Royal Palace and the Cathedral as its backdrop and affords good views back towards central Madrid.
Like all the aforementioned bridges on this river it does not warrant a special trip out on its own, but if you intend to visit the river walk and the Parque Madrid Rio in particular, then this one is worth spending some time at.
