A Hidden Gem, right on Hwy 2 in Claresholm

点评：I discovered a hidden gem yesterday that has been around for a long time. Claresholm & District Museum and Visitor Centre is located right on Hwy 2 in the town of Claresholm. There are lots of picnic tables and benches, some in the shade, with lots of green space. There are 4 building to explore. 1) The Visitor Centre is in a 1912 Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) station which has a replica an old ticket office including Morse code equipment. Outside there are tracks and an old CPR caboose. 2) The 1903 one room school house is complete with desks and old text books. 3) The 1920 log cabin is also very well done, with a wood stove, furniture and items from the olden days. Be sure to look up in the rafters for the “bathtub”. 4) The 8,000 square foot Exhibit Hall is located behind the Visitor Centre. It is incredible; you really have to go and see it for yourself. The Claresholm & District Museum and Visitor Centre has been created and is well cared for by the people of Claresholm & District and is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable summer students and volunteers. It is definitely worth a stop on your travels or as a planned day trip. Admission is by donation with tickets sold for special events like The Father’s Day Classic Car Show on Jun 21, 2026 and the Old Fashioned Christmas on Dec 4, 2026.
