点评:I visited this museum and left with a very negative impression, not because of the collection, but because of the way I was treated by the security staff.
From the moment I entered, I was followed extremely closely by the security guards. Whenever I stopped to look at an artwork, one of them would stand about a metre behind me, watching me continuously. I used Google Translate to explain that this constant surveillance was making me uncomfortable. I also explained that I was carrying a camera but fully understood that photography was prohibited. I am 56 years old and perfectly capable of following museum rules. I received no response whatsoever.
Things got even worse when I went to collect my bag from the locker. Another member of staff literally shouted at me because I had left the locker door open.
What makes this particularly disturbing is that this level of surveillance did not seem to apply equally to everyone. During my visit, I saw a Kyrgyz family with a child running around the museum who attracted no attention from the guards. At the exit, I also spoke with a Western couple who told me they had experienced exactly the same intrusive surveillance.
I cannot claim to know what motivated the staff, but the overall experience left me with a very strong impression of hostility and discrimination towards foreign visitors.
A museum should be a place where visitors are welcomed and treated with respect, not made to feel like suspects simply because of how they look or where they come from.
Management should seriously investigate the behaviour of its security staff. This was completely unacceptable.
