点评:That is one of the best established museums in Armenia. It houses one of the greatest collections worldwide with more than 23000 manuscripts and over half of a million documents. The majority of these manuscripts are obviously Armenian, while there are also many manuscripts in many historical languages (arabic, Persian, Turkish, Greek, Latin, Russian, Cyrillic, Slavic,...etc, and in all aspects of sciences, though a great percentage are religious manuscripts.
The museum is not very large, cubic in shape, and made of Armenian basalt with the statue of the famous Mesrop Mashtots, the one credited to the invention of Armenian alphabet along with his disciple, at the front of the building. Still in front of the building 6 other Armenian scholars statues are erected.
The interior is very similar to an Armenian church.
Highly recommended to visit since it is not far from city center.
