Wonderful location with brilliant volunteers, go soon and go often
Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome with Mess Cafe的点评
点评:Visited on Sunday, 3rd May 2026, Stowe Maries for the WW1 Living History Weekend. Wonderful revisit for me and a first-time visit for my great-nephew to the last remaining original WW1 Aerodrome. I purchased tickets in advance, which I would recommend on event days. Plenty of parking, and upon entrance, a volunteer directs you to the shop where you're issued with a wristband. You then walk through buildings with representations of settings and artefacts from the site whilst it was in use during WW1. There were static and interactive displays which were excellent, especially that representing bomb sites in London, the details of which were brilliantly illustrated. After this, we were given interactive presentations of equipment and stories by volunteers and a guided tour of the site, including details of the site's history. We had a separate tour of the aircraft hanger inc a stunning re-created part of a WWI bomber. We ate at the excellent café, which also had a second-hand book store next door. Before leaving, we purchased items from the excellent shop and came away from a fantastic day, which, like lots of these places, can only survive by the efforts of the brilliantly dedicated volunteers
