点评:I walked 2.3km - over more than 35 minutes to reach this colourful and unique Hindu temple.
Initially, an elderly, somewhat gentle man asked me to take off my shoes, and let me inside. He said I can ‘make a donation of 200LKR’ if I so wished. As I started walking around inside, around 25 seconds later, another aggressive looking, slim and short man came up to me, saying ‘buy a donation ticket now!’
I am sorry, but it isn’t about the donation ticket or the amount he was asking for, but the way he said it, and the circumstances that it happened (I was allowed inside initially and even started making my way around the inside of the temple for a brief visit and attempt to understand their religion)… and then he said ‘if not, then u can leave!’
So without further ado, my visit was over in less than one minute.
In an age where religious tension can be so high, any attempt to understand , and respect another religion should be welcomed, not ushered out due to money. What a pity…
