点评:Honestly, a very disappointing experience. Firstly, it was expensive, as it cost 1500 baht to visit both parts of the park. I first entered the Marine Park section of the zoo and walked around before the orangutan show. I noticed the small enclosure size and poor conditions for the Siberian tigers, which had absolutely no space to roam and were visibly uncomfortable in the heat. The meerkats too looked to be distressed, attempting to escape by digging away at the sand by the glass.
The orangutan show was particularly disconcerting, Instead of an informative experience, it felt like a circus performance, with the animals forced to partake in comedic acts that often bordered on violence or sexual innuendo. Witnessing these intelligent creatures coerced into such behaviour was unsettling.
In the elephant show, they are also made to perform tricks, e.g. standing on small stools. It is not fair to expect animals to do this for the sake of entertainment. It was evident that it must be an incredibly terrifying experience for them; loud music blasting, thousands of people watching, fearing that they will be punished if they make the wrong move. Seeing the elephants later chained up without adequate space only reinforced the feeling that they were being treated like prisoners rather than respected beings.
Navigating between shows was chaotic, with overcrowded walkways and pushy crowds making the experience uncomfortable. The dining options were limited and overpriced, adding to the frustration of the visit.
The overcrowding extended to the animal enclosures. For example, they have over 200 giraffes. This seems like an excessive number to have, and it is far from natural. There were also more than 10 Bengal tigers housed together which raises concerns about the welfare of these animals.
Even the safari park, which I hoped would offer a more authentic experience, fell short. The rushed tour provided limited opportunities to observe the wildlife, with many animals missed due to the hurried pace.
I gave the zoo part of the park another chance, but it just made me feel incredibly sorry for the animals. You can tell that the primates hate it there. The mandrill was sat in the same position the whole time that I was there. A zoo is no place for our close relatives. I also noticed numerous times that other visitors would bang on the fences of enclosures and make noises at the animals, which only added to the sense of despair.
Despite a few opportunities for interaction, such as feeding the giraffes and capybara, these experiences did little to offset the overall poor conditions and treatment of the animals. Safari World serves as a pertinent reminder of the prevalent disregard for animal welfare in the region.
Overall, my visit to Safari World left me deeply troubled by the treatment of the animals and the overall attitude towards their well-being. It is a glaring example of the urgent need for reform in the way animals are treated in captivity in this region.
