点评:Just to the people reading all the dramatic reviews: after I saw the bad reviews I was very hesitant to go as well, but am still very glad that I did! I’m not sure if people were expecting a 5 star resort? But the island was pretty much exactly what it promised to be.
Accommodation: if you’re used to luxury all inclusive resorts and didn’t like nature, this is probably not for you. However if you have stayed in Eco/Jungle/Diving resorts or lodges this will probably feel very similar. It is very basic but has the necessary amenities. The AC works very well, the cold water isn’t ice cold so still perfectly fine to take even long showers, there were toothbrushes and tooth paste provided and you could get water refilled at all times. Yes, there are animals and insects around because it is very close to nature. Which is not very unexpected.
Food: wasn’t my cup of tea personally but not bad quality or as terrible as some described. We had a buffet offering rice, chicken, fish, veggies (fresh and some sort of cooked veggie dish), eggs, tea, coffee and soup. For breakfast we had toast, scrambled eggs, noodles, butter, jam etc. You should bring cash if you want something from the shop like soda, beer, chips or instant noodles. Or you can also bring your own snacks!
Activities: yes the guides don’t provide all day activities for you, but I feel like as an adult you can definitely find a way to entertain yourself without a babysitter. We went for some walks, snorkelling, explored the island, watched the sunset and spotted some huge monitor lizards, birds, a snake and lots and lots of baby turtles!!
Turtles: While exploring the island we actually stumbled across some turtles hatching in some leftover nests on the beach with barely any other tourists around!! So I would absolutely recommend exploring during the day. This alone made the entire experience absolutely worth it.
Night program: this is the actual reason for the 3 stars. The whole thing was extremely chaotic and not well organised. We waited for 3 hours after dinner in the main area to be called to the mother turtles (which is fine, since the rangers can’t control when the turtle will come ashore). In this time the rangers had time to explain the rules of the encounter. Instead when the turtles was spotted everyone just started running and the rangers were screaming at the tourists not to use light, not to make videos, where it was allowed and not allowed to stand. It was very chaotic and some tourists almost knocked me over trying to get to the turtle. The rangers constantly screamed at us for doing something wrong and it was unclear what we were supposed to do because the instructions seemed contradictory. And most of the tourists didn’t listen when they were told to move so others could see something too, they just stayed very close to the turtle and didn’t let anyone else get close while taking lots of pictures. So we barely saw anything, the turtle seemed extremely stressed and it was an overall not very nice experience. I hope they fix this in the future by maybe explaining the rules very clearly in the beginning, maybe reducing the amount of tourists per turtle, or not allowing photography so people don’t push and shove everyone to get a picture and just enjoy the experience…. I feel like this could be a very nice activity if there’s some changes to how the whole thing is organised.
