Hoi An is a scam and not childfriendly
会安古镇的点评
点评：Lanterns in Old town are pretty, yes. The heritage museum was beautiful. And we played some minigolf and yeah, had some nice greek food…..
But the mentality in Hoi An is intense and the sales women and men are so aggressive - putting toys in our childrens hands without asking and coming up to you constantly - like every minut - and not taking no for an answer. You could not sit on the beach or in a café without having to deal with people engaging with you - not to be friendly (as I so naively thought), but to get you to by something. I know they have had a hard time with the rain and floods and the people of Hoi An have had to bounce back - but this is just too intense for most tourists. Most interactions would start by “friendly questions” but ended with asking for money, whatsapp-number or a 5-star review on gooogle. So tiresome. Also, most photos and reviews are fake or at best polished, and the quality of food most places were not as expected. Same not-homemade springrolls and same-tasting Pho. Even restaurants with really good ratings were just not very impressing. It made it hard to navigate the town, and sometimes it felt absurd or unreal because reality did not match expectations (Google review, pictures, trustpilot, booking ect.).
We had wanted to do many of the tours -like to My Son -but after 3 days i Hoi An we decided to do none of the tours so to not be anymore diaappointed. We checked in to a hotel and “hid” by the pool until we could get away from the area (flew to Hanoi) . Even stayed away from the beaches in Hoi An because of the trash, half-finished hotels and saleswomen with baskets.

我们原本想参加很多旅行团——比如去美山——但在会安待了三天后，为了避免更加失望，我们决定放弃所有旅行团。我们入住了一家酒店，躲在泳池边，直到可以离开那里（飞往河内）。我们甚至避开了会安的海滩，因为那里垃圾遍地，酒店半成品，还有提着篮子的推销员。
