Binchester Roman Fort的点评
点评：It's worth noting that although advertised and signposted as "Roman Fort" what is visible is two Roman bath houses. The rest of the fort remains are under the soil and not marked out or interpreted for visitors.
The bath houses are apparently the most complete in the UK and as such are impressive, although the one under the tent would be easier to understand if the plans of the various stages on the interpretation board were aligned with what you can see rather than at ninety degrees to it.
The site is not far from Bishop Auckland and its transport links but accessing it on foot is not easy due to the lack of a pavement on the connecting road and absence of a connection to the nearby footpath network.
If you travel on the nearby Weardale Railway your ticket offers a reduction on entry to other Auckland Project attractions of which this is presumably one so if you are planning a visit to the railway do that first.
