Great rainforest experience
辛哈拉加森林保护区的点评
点评：Four of us visited the Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. We booked a pre-arranged excursion and were assigned a local rainforest guide for a three-hour walk.
The route is mostly along well-maintained paths, but there are a few sections where you head off into the forest, which made it feel like a real jungle adventure. Our guide was excellent, taking the time to point out fascinating plants, flowers and wildlife, while sharing lots of information about the rainforest. He was also a keen birdwatcher, so we spotted some beautiful birds we would never have noticed on our own.
We saw monkeys, colourful lizards, incredible spiders and plenty of other wildlife along the way. If you enjoy nature, this place is absolutely worth visiting.
A few tips for anyone planning to go: take plenty of water, wear light clothing, and be prepared for the heat and humidity. Also… the leeches are no joke! They are like little ninjas, waiting on the paths before quickly making their way up your shoes, trousers and even into your top. Tuck everything in, wear closed shoes, and if you can, hire the cloth leech boots from the ticket office—they’re well worth it!
There are plenty of toilets along the route, which was a pleasant surprise for such a remote location.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience with knowledgeable guides, amazing wildlife and a chance to explore one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful natural treasures. Highly recommended for anyone who loves the outdoors.
