点评:Our group of 15 international travelers spent about one here exploring the statues in the green space but the museum was closed. As a former Peace Corps volunteer tree in near by Ecuador, I appreciate the memorial to the service of the US Peace Corps volunteers who served in Suriname This area in Fort Zeekandia houses the statue of Mama Sranan , a mother who holds 5 babies . The babies symbolize the ethnic groups that formed Suriname of Indian Hindustani, Creole, Maroon ( indentured slaves), Javanese, and Indigenous.
A white poster in a case shows ships that arrived bringing Indian Hindustaanse settlers who arrived from 1873 to 1916. I spent time looking at Tris Monument which sits sits near the sculptures of 3 prominent men and a large anchor.
Be sure to get your photos with the “I heart SU” art work.
The museum is closed this weekend.
The area is walkable with a sidewalk and grassy area
Accessible area.
