点评:Ball Bay is a short walk from Burnt Pine along Queen Elizabeth Road turning left on Stockyard Road (all flat a journey at this stage), then well you don't even need to get to the start of Marsh's Road, as if you ask the cows nicely they will let you cut over their shaded by trees grass and you end up halfway down it before it becomes a really steep road to the lookout carpark, then down to the bay. So it's a long walk back due to the steepness, but not distance.
Other than the fuel storage on the right as you walk down, and the evidence of just how strong the wind is on this road from the trees on the left, which are almost horizontal, Ball Bay itself is kind of dull and disappointing, compared to the much more scenic and interesting other bays on Norfolk Island. If you want to walk somewhere without all the tourists in their rental cars, I'd suggest Bumboras Reserve, a much better beach with rocks along it, also down a steep hill though, but unlike Ball Bay, when you're walking back up it, you're thinking that was so worth this.
