努萨培尼达岛的点评
点评：Overrated and exhausting
We took the 3 PM Maruti fast boat from Sanur Harbour to Toya Pakeh. The crossing was quite rough but bearable. What concerned us more was the lack of attention to safety — the life jackets we saw were in poor condition/broken.
After arriving at Toya Pakeh, we then spent around 40 minutes at a complete standstill just trying to exit the harbour car park. Also worth noting that the driver prices being offered at the harbour were higher than what our hotel had quoted us.
We booked a private combined island tour through our hotel. Our driver, Dion, was amazing — friendly, helpful and did his absolute best to make the day enjoyable. Unfortunately, the roads themselves made the experience exhausting. The journey towards Diamond Beach involved a section of almost 1.5 hours of extremely bumpy roads, and many roads are incredibly narrow, with a single lane being used for two-way traffic.
I would personally be very cautious about renting a scooter here unless you are a highly experienced rider. Between the road conditions, narrow sections and traffic coming from both directions, it did not look particularly safe.
Nusa Penida certainly has some beautiful scenery, and the beaches are is impressive, but for us the overall experience was overrated compared with the amount of uncomfortable travel, traffic and poor infrastructure required to reach the main attractions.
If you’re considering visiting, I’d recommend going in with realistic expectations — the photos are beautiful, but getting to those places can be a very different experience.
