点评:The Old Town and Aqueduct that passes through it is the very essence of Segovia's recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Segovia is a fairly compact town, with the Old Town effectively crowded on a rocky bluff delineated by the confluence of the Eresma and Clamores rivers. It is home to a number of important monuments, the most famous is of course the Segovia Aqueduct built by the Romans in the 1st century AD. The charming old town, with its quaint shops, cobblestone alleys and endearing public squares, is truly a joy to explore. Wandering around the town is like walking through a living museum where every corner is just begging for a treasure trove of architectural wonder or a piece of the town's rich history to be discovered. The Aqueduct and the Cathedral definitely stood out, but there are also other iconic structures such as the Casa de los Picos, a uniquely-studded building with an external facade featuring diamond-shaped reliefs carved into pyramid-shaped stones. Our day-trip to Segovia was bundled together with 2 other towns (Avila and Toledo), so effectively we only have a couple of hours here, which was a shame as we certainly wished we had more time to spend in this charming medieval town.
