Great mountain hutte, but expensive

点评：We booked the Rifugio Paolina almost 9 months in advance as part of a larger Italian excursion. Contact with the Rifugio was by email which was OK, but with limited information.
The hutte was excellent, well furnished, amazing location, brilliant views into Carezza and backdropped by the epic Rode de Vael. It got very busy in the day, but was calm and relaxing in the evening and early morning despite being mostly at room capacity.
Staff were friendly and accommodating.
The food was good, but a very limited menu for 3 nights (same 3 choices each night; cheese dumplings, goulash, spaghetti). The day menu was much better but stopped when the day chef left at 3pm. They also ran out of dessert and offered a chocolate bar substitute from the counter.
Accepting the challenges of operating a restaurant and refigio in the mountains, it is expensive. €18 pp for breakfast (bread, cheese, speck and jam); €12 for a packed lunch (2 speck & cheese sandwiches and 2 pieces of fruit), €5 pppd for a shower. Also, no WiFi for overnight guests.
Overall, it was a good experience, but difficult to cost in advance and expensive on departure.
