点评：Kawagoe, Japan, famously known as "Little Edo", rose to prominence in 1457 with the construction of Kawagoe Castle. Located in Saitama Prefecture, just 30 minutes northwest of Tokyo, its strategic and commercial success peaked during the Edo Period (1603–1868) as a vital supply hub and defensive outpost for the Shogun's capital. Just half an hour by train from Tokyo. (*Britannica, Kupi.com, japan-experience.com) Most of the roughly 30 remaining kurazukuri warehouses lining the main street were built immediately following the 1893 fire. They are over 130 years old and look exactly as they did in the late 1800s.
Makes a great day trip or 1/2 day trip. We visited a temple, then walked the popular shopping streets popping in at a few cafes and shops. Go early because some things close early evening. It's definitely fun for photos.
