点评:We used Cristina’s guides for three tours of sights in Rome: the Vatican, the Jewish Quarter, and Cristina herself for a tour out the Appian Way. All three tours were marvelous. The Vatican tour was on a very crowded day when, it turned out, the Pope was scheduled to give a mass in the late afternoon. It was critical to have a guide that day to get us through the Vatican museum, in an efficient fashion while seeing the most important artifacts, to the Sistine chapel, while hearing stories about what we would see there and Michelangelo’s feelings about painting the chapel at his by then rather advanced age, and finally weaving our way through a shortcut to St Peter’s Basilica.
The Jewish quarter tour was most interesting and we were able to taste the Jewish-Romano treat of fried artichokes and wander through the narrow streets of the tiny area that was once the ghetto where Jews were required to live.
Our tour of the Appian Way with Cristina was supposed to be by electric bike. It turned out however that, as 70+ year-olds, we could not manage the bikes on the uneven surfaces of Roman streets. Cristina proved very adaptable, so we ended up taking a taxi out to the Catacombs of San Sebastián and walking to various sights on the Appian Way. We were very impressed with Cristina’s historical commentary about what we were seeing and her delightful personality! We had a most enjoyable morning and we highly recommend Cristina and her company for any tour you might take in Rome!
