点评:Burned, but Beautiful! We enjoyed our driving trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park, hiking several of the trails and driving throughout the park for one day. You could certainly visit for longer, should you desire. We flashed our National Park pass to the rangers at the gates and whizzed right into the park. No wait. Minimal crowds. Mild weather. Snow on the ground, but no need for tire cables/ chains. Here's a belt-and-suspenders comment: the five national parks we visited on this driving trip were in good shape ~ clean bathrooms, well maintained trails, and fully staffed ranger stations and visitor centers. So, despite our concerns due to recent governmental budget cuts, we didn't need to bring that roll of toilet paper in our car after all.
A wonderful experience for families. If you're with school-age kids, it's worth discussing how forests recover from fires as well as how fires effect the forest ecosystem. There's lots to see and notice. A 2021 fire left behind acres and acres of scorched black trees that look like chimney sweep brushes. I am glad we went here.
