点评:Having lived in the Bay area for 3 years I drove past the Golden Gate National Cemetery (GGNC) on many occasions as I travelled up or down HWY 280. It was always a poignant and somewhat impressive sight. Having left the Bay Area some 11 years ago I finally visited it when on a business trip to the USA from the UK. The GGNC is 161 acres and has 113,000 grave sites of more than 143,500 individuals laid to rest. There is a visitor office where you can get a map of the cemetery and find specific gravesites. The GGNC homes the graves of several distinguished figures, such as Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz (Section C Grave 1). There are also the graves of 15 recipients of the Medal of Honor from conflicts including WWII, Vietnam, Korea, the Indian Wars and others. Go up 'Mound Drive' where the flagpole is to get a good vista out across the entire burial site to the NWest and NEast. Well worth a visit.
