My husband Paul and I have just returned from the Vardø and Hornøya Arctic Photography Experience led by Kevin Morgans (Shetland Nature) and Jari Peltomäki (Finnature), and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
From start to finish, the trip was exceptionally well organised. Kevin and Jari are not only highly accomplished photographers, but also outstanding guides—professional, personable, and genuinely attentive to every detail. Their experience shows in the way the trip flows seamlessly, allowing participants to focus entirely on their photography.
The journey itself was a wonderful experience, taking us through a variety of beautiful locations across Finland and Norway en route to Vardø. However, the undeniable highlight was Hornøya Island. We were incredibly fortunate with the weather, which allowed us to land on the island four times. One visit, in particular, during gently falling snow, created truly magical conditions and unforgettable photographic opportunities.
The group dynamic was equally enjoyable—like-minded, enthusiastic, and supportive. Kevin and Jari foster an atmosphere that is both relaxed and inspiring, making it easy to learn, share, and grow creatively.
Every aspect of the trip was thoughtfully curated—from the comfortable hotels to the excellent food, and even the charming coffee stops along the way. These touches made the experience not only productive from a photographic perspective, but also deeply enjoyable on a personal level.
Most importantly, this trip genuinely helped elevate our photography. With Kevin and Jari’s guidance, encouragement, and expert eye, we came away not only with strong images but also with new skills and perspectives.
