点评：This island home of the Borromeo family was definitely the highlight of my stay in the Stresa area. The island is reached by boat with frequent departures from the Stresa docks. A guided tour of the palace takes 60 minutes and provides history of the Borromeo family and a look into the opulent life that they led. The family still spends time here occasionally and their upstairs rooms are not open for visitation. The amount of artwork and antique furniture is really amazing. The final room filled with large and colorful tapestries is quite unexpected. The ground floor grottos made with stones and sea shells were interesting but not as much as I had anticipated. The gardens are beautiful with many trees and flowers to be enjoyed. You can easily spend another 30-60 minutes strolling through them. The gardens are also home to a number of white and regular colored peacocks.
