点评：Overnight Yasur trip was amazing! Went as a solo traveller to not only see the volcano, but also to see a bit more of Vanuatu further afield.
The flight was amazing. Professional check in, competent pilot, and a steady flight down to Tanna. For the flight there I was seated to the back, which did have limited leg room (I am only 1.64m), but not to the point of terrible discomfort.
We stayed at whitegrass which was a great little boutique hotel near the airport. Even if you have limited time between the flight and the volcano tour, I recommend checking out the pool. I was lucky that my room was very much at the end of the row, and it felt like I was the only one on the island.
The trip to Yasur was in well equipped 4WDs, with the option to sit on the back tray (which some in our group took up!). Coming onto the ash plains and seeing Yasur was sensational. We stopped twice for photos and to really grasp the enormity of the volcano.
I do recommend sitting up front if you get carsick, as it is an ‘off the beaten track’ drive.
We were guided to the volcano by guide Sophia, who lives close to the volcano and knew a huge amount of the culture and history of it. She competently took us up the trail from the carpark. It was about a 5-10 minute walk directly uphill: be prepared for a steep climb. I have moderate fitness and joint concerns, and was able to take my time to the viewing area.
Yasur is currently seeing an increase in activity, and with a bit of inclement weather, and a bit of patience, we saw huge explosions and thundering eruptions. I do recommend earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise.
Would highly recommend this tour, where everything is looked after for you and you simply need to go along for the ride.
