Naval Aviation Monument的点评
点评：The Naval Aviation Monument on the Virginia Beach waterfront is a uniquely situated and well laid out tribute to the legacy of Naval Aviation that began in Hampton Roads on January 18, 1911 when the intrepid aviator Eugene Ely first demonstrated ability to fly off a ship. His statue is centerpiece of the monument that traces the history of Naval from then until today. Notable are dedicated obelisks to the legacy of the A-6 Intruder and F-14 Tomcat that anchor the corners nearest the boardwalk. Considerable funding was raised by the local Hampton Roads chapter of the Association of Naval Aviation who continues to sponsor the monument working with the city to maintain it and sponsor special events. Located next to the Courtyatd by Marriott, the monument is a fitting tribute to Naval Aviation and Hampton Roads legacy.
