点评:Visitor center no longer hands out a map of the garden, which is a problem because along the paths, it is hard to choose which way to go. With a map, you could tell which garden areas you have seen and which you have not. The paths are paved so a disabled person in a wheelchair or mobility scooter can go through almost the whole garden, except for a few areas which must go over stone steps. Also, there are a couple of turns along the trails that were scary to make, as a person could go right in the lake if not careful. My relative stood between me and the lake so I could manage it. There are beautiful waterfalls, a Japanese theme pagoda, a children section, even a little rapids area in the water. Signage is mostly on rocks that have the donor’s name on it. Many trees are not identified, so better signage is needed. There is an accessible washroom. The staff should just get a ream of paper and copy 100 maps to give out, instead of telling visitors to just use your camera to copy the map taped to the desk. For $10 entrance fee, they can give out a map. It would greatly enhance the experience. I believe we may have missed parts of the garden by choosing to go left instead of to the right. It’s possible the paths merge, but we could not tell where. The garden is a peaceful, lovely place to go, with plenty of chairs to sit in. One could come here and sit, just enjoying the serenity and the waterfalls. Nice to have this in the middle of Elkhart.
