点评:This is the second time that this post is deleted from TripAdvisor. For this reason, I am posting it once again. It is very important for potential customers to know what kind of Company Albatross Arctic Circle is. We did this trip in July of 2022. However, I was forced to write a different date of our trip because TripAdvisor has limited the timeline to post reviews. Therefore, I had to write a random date just to make sure that my review is reposted.
My husband, teenage son and I went on vacation to Greenland last summer. First and foremost, this is something that you should do if you are a nature lover and adventurous like us! Although we enjoyed the Midnight Sailing Tour despite the lack of midnight sun, I encourage you to read my review in its entirety before doing business with Albatross Arctic Circle Ilulissat.
I booked the Midnight Sailing, The Morning Kayaking, and The Eqi Glacier tours with this company nine months in advance and paid a total of $1806.85 US with my credit card. Five months later, I got an email from an employee requesting me to change The Midnight Sailing tour from July 10th to July11- 12th because they had a group of eleven people who could only do this tour on the 10th. I refused her request because we already had planned activities for the suggested days.
Two weeks before our morning kayak tour, I got an email from another employee stating that our 9 am tour had been rescheduled to 9 pm on that same day. When I inquired about this, her response was "We have rescheduled the tour because we are a bit low on staff this first week in July, and we don’t want to push them too much." I obviously refused the change because it did not fit our schedule nor our needs. I also asked for a refund if they could not keep the initial time. Eight days later, I contacted this employee again because I had not received the promised refund. Her response was "I’m sorry that you haven’t received it yet, I will look into it and get back to you. I just need to talk with my colleague in the economy department and he’s back tomorrow."
On the other hand, The Eqi Glacier tour was cancelled by Albatross Arctic Circle due to bad weather. Although they offered an alternative date, I had to refuse that too because of our schedule. Due to this, I asked for a refund for this activity as well. In the response that followed, the same employee as stated above stated "Now I have talked with my colleague. Apparently, we have changed our payment system since you paid for the tour, so I can’t automatically refund the money to you. Could you please provide me with your bank account info? Including IBAN and Swift, thanks."
I pointed out that my payment had been done by credit card. Therefore, they should be able to retrieve my information and not have to get my refund through a bank transfer. This employee insisted that this "was not possible" and that they had lost all my information. Really? What reputable company loses the customers' information? They were aware that I had made online payments but had "lost" the information. If this was the case, how did they know I made online payments?
After I sent another email demanding my refund and asking them to not insult my intelligence, I got this response from an employee who allegedly is in charge "As (the employe) has explained in a previous email, our online payment system has changed during 2022. And since you paid us, using the old platform, we are unable to process the refund using your Mastercard."
At this point, I had had enough with this company. The reason why they were encouraging me to get my refund through a bank transfer was because the exchange rate was favorable to them. I was entitled to receive $1500.23 US (because one of the booked tours did take place) but would have only received $1200 US if I had accepted the bank transfer!
Luckily, I was able to get my money back because I contacted my credit card company. If you decide to book tours through Albatross Arctic Circle in Ilulissat, make sure that you do not pay cash. I do not think that I would have gotten my refund if I had chosen that payment method. You have been warned.
