点评：Seven of us went for an afternoon on a cold and bright November afternoon to do the 4 part experience. We were all complete novices and 3 had not even passed driving tests. Angus and his assistant Ross were skilled and very considerate instructors. Everyone had a great time, even though some were quite nervous beforehand. We all found it challenging and entertaining although we were quite sedate according to Ross (two of us are in our 60s).
We split into two groups. One group started on the 8 wheel ATV with lever steering and the other did the reverse steering (turn the wheel left to go right!) Land Rover, with everyone taking a turn. Then we swapped over. Both were great fun.
The second part was quad bikes and driving a Land Rover, again two groups, swapping over after the first activity. These were longer sessions than the first two. Ross took us to the quad bike "nursery slope" to learn the basics then a tour throughout the countryside for what seemed like miles and miles. Angus took the Land Rover group and taught us how to handle 40° slopes (up and down). We took turns with the rest of the group in the back. This was a "proper" 1980's Defender with no electronics, low gearing and enough torque to get up a hill in second. We never got out of second but that was the point. As Angus says: it's the most fun you can have at 3mph.
