点评:The Bight Fish Fry was something I was really looking forward to during my trip to Turks and Caicos, and while the concept is GREAT, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.
I loved the idea of it and enjoyed walking through all the vendors and booths. There were many booths with handmade jewelry and trinkets. There were also many commercial type ones selling magnets, hoodies, etc. Despite what I read beforehand, many vendors did accept cards, which was helpful. Parking, however, was difficult—there’s no close parking and we had about a 10-minute walk, with sidewalks blocked by cars parked on them.
Seating was also a challenge. Every picnic table was completely packed, with large groups sharing tables, and there was nowhere to comfortably sit and eat after waiting in long food lines.
Drink prices were high ($12–16 for non-alcoholic and $18+ for alcoholic). The food was the biggest disappointment. Lines were very long even shortly after opening, and we spent about $90 on two takeout boxes. The lobster was unfortunately not good and ended up being thrown away as it had a plastic-like taste to it. The mac and cheese was very dense, dry, and not enjoyable. The coconut shrimp had good flavor but was soggy.
We also tried ice cream from the Giggles food truck. There were no prices listed, which made the final cost surprising—$27.25 for a shake and a single scoop. The shake was very watery and tasted more like icy chocolate milk than a milkshake.
The atmosphere was busy but not as energetic as expected. I did appreciate the DJs trying to engage the crowd and the free drinks and souvenirs given out during games and quizzes.
Overall, I think The Bight Fish Fry has an amazing concept and could be a wonderful experience, but between the pricing and food quality, it just didn’t feel worth it for me. This may have been an off night, but I wanted to share an honest experience to help others set expectations.
