Concern About Public Space Management and Quality of Experience in BGC, Philippines

点评：During my time living and working in BGC, I’ve noticed an issue that I believe affects both residents and visitors, and I hope it can be discussed constructively.
Public spaces such as streets, malls, and restaurants are increasingly crowded with pets in strollers, wearing diapers, barking loudly, and sometimes causing hygiene concerns. While I fully respect pet ownership and understand that many people love their animals, the current lack of balance is affecting the comfort of others — families with children, people trying to enjoy a quiet meal, and tourists seeking a clean and relaxed environment.
In many cases, the noise, smell, and overcrowding make it difficult to enjoy dining or simply walking in busy areas. Some restaurants and malls feel more like pet zones than shared public spaces, which can be uncomfortable for people who do not wish to dine or shop around animals.
This is not about blaming individuals or judging personal choices. It’s about urban management, public hygiene, and mutual respect. Clearer rules on where pets are appropriate — and where they are not — would help improve the overall experience for everyone.
The Philippines has many wonderful qualities: warm people, great service, and strong hospitality. Addressing this issue thoughtfully would further enhance its image for residents, expats, and tourists alike.
I hope local authorities and businesses can consider better guidelines to ensure public spaces remain clean, peaceful, and welcoming for all.
